Eroded Hope – SBL 2013

Job’s speeches are replete with metaphors, many of which are self-referential, some of which are counter-expectational. This paper, presented to the Cognitive Linguistics group of SBL (November 2013), examines three of these counter-expectational metaphors in Job 14.
